In 1,000,000BC Raquel Welch is attacked by a 500ft long Brontosaurus. As she runs into a cave to escape, she is clearly seen wearing sabre-toothed tiger skin slippers. Strange, because slippers wern’t invented until 1732, some 1,001,732 years after the film was set!

Citizen Kane is hailed as the best film ever made, but even the great Orson Welles wasn’t immune to slipper-ups. In the final scene where he is lying on his deathbed, the underneath of his character John Foster Kane’s slippers are visible and the size, 10, can clearly be read. In real life however the actor, Welles, took a 9 1/2!

In the original 1935 King Kong, two minutes of expensive stop-motion animation had been filmed before technicians noticed that the model gorilla was wearing slippers. Too expensive to re-shoot, the footage was used. Eagle-eyed watchers will notice that when the ape begins to climb the Empire State Building he is wearing slippers, but when he gets to the top, they are gone.

In Back To The Future III, Marty McFly is seen wearing a pair of 1940s slippers. However, the film was set in 1955, 15 years after the slippers were manufactured and 30 years before the film was made. This means that in the film, the slippers were actually ten years older than actor Michael J. Fox, who at 35, was playing a character 10 years younger than the slippers he was wearing!
